Daud Vicary Abdullah is the President and Chief Executive Officer of INCEIF, The Global University of Islamic Finance. He has been in the finance and consulting industry for almost 40 years, with significant experience in Asia, Europe, Latin America and the Middle East. Since 2002, he has focused exclusively on Islamic finance where he has contributed to a number of books on the subject and has co-authored a book on Islamic finance entitled “Islamic Finance: Why it makes sense.” He is also a frequent speaker and commentator on matters relating to Islamic finance. He is a Chartered Islamic Finance Professional (CIFP), a Distinguished Fellow of the Islamic Banking and Finance Institute of Malaysia (IBFIM) and a former Board member (2003 – 2007) of the Accounting and Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI). Prior to INCEIF, he was the Global Islamic Finance Leader with Deloitte. He was also previously Acting CEO of Asian Finance Bank, an Islamic bank based in Malaysia, and Managing Director of Hong Leong Islamic Bank.
Shahed is co-founder and CTO of Affinis Labs, a Northern Virginia innovation hub and startup accelerator that focuses on businesses with positive social impacts in global Muslim communities. Through Affinis Labs, he helps organize global hackathons to create social impact businesses and digital tools, incubate and accelerate startups for global markets, and create compelling global brands. As CTO, Shahed helps manage the development and launch of incubated initiatives and builds the technology architecture for portfolio companies.
A Silicon Valley veteran, Shahed also co-founded LaunchPosse, a startup based at Affinis Labs that helps people leverage their social networks to shape and launch ideas for entrepreneurship. Prior to starting LaunchPosse, Shahed served as Senior Advisor for Technology at the US Department of State, where he worked closely with the White House and other government agencies on social entrepreneurship, social media policy, combating online extremism, and fostering innovation. Shahed also founded Halalfire, a producer of online content and market research for global Muslim communities. He founded Altmuslim, an online magazine with 2.5 million annual unique users, and served as its editor-in-chief for 10 years before its 2011 acquisition by Patheos. In 1998, he created Zabihah, the world’s largest Halal restaurant guide, with 10 million annual users and 500,000 mobile app downloads. Shahed was also co-founder and CEO of Relatia, a venture-backed mobile software company acquired in 2001.
Shahed has written and/or been featured in pieces about technology, foreign policy, and media trends in venues such as CNN and Newsweek, has spoken at the Council on Foreign Relations and Center for American Progress, and has published essays in academic journals and newspapers such as the Washington Post and Chicago Tribune. He has been named three times (2009, 2010, and 2011) as one of the 500 most influential Muslims in the world by Georgetown University & the Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Centre in Jordan, one of the Islamic 500 most influential entrepreneurs in the global Islamic economy (2015), one of the top 10 most visionary young Muslims by Islamica Magazine (2007), and the winner of the SXSW Dewey Winburne Award for Community Service (2007). He has also served on the boards of nearly a dozen national non-profit organizations focused on building stable Muslim-American identities. Shahed has a BS from UC Berkeley (where he served as Student Body Vice-President) and an MBA from Georgetown.

With over 10 years of experience, he generated over $9 million worth of revenue for the companies he worked for. In just 3 short years, from 2013 to 2016, he achieved over $4.6 million before deciding to quit and start his own business, Elmangos Group.

Early 2016, Mansi co-founded his first global event, M Powered Summit, which is now called Global Islamic Economy Entrepreneurship Convention. It aims at empowering entrepreneurs in the global Islamic Economy. The event has been featured in many publications such as Thomson Reuters, Reddit, Arabian Business, Wamda, Womena, Ilmfeed, Islam Channel and many other publications. Mansi co-founded Islamic Economy InnoFest as well which is a tech and innovation festival aimed at highlighting and supporting startups in the Islamic Economy.
He went on to further co-found TND, a global tech and innovation festival aimed at empowering entrepreneurship and tech innovations in emerging markets. The event’s inaugural launch will be in 2017 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Fara Othman is an inspiring entrepreneur in the medical supply and property business, a mother of 2 and the founder of Into Taqwa. She founded Into Taqwa in 2012 after her first Umrah when she was in Madinah. In her words, she “just felt this is the first time that I could really feel the strong connections with our Prophet Muhammad, sallallaahu’alayhi wa sallam. And once I actually returned back to Malaysia, I realized that I need to do something.”
She is also head of a TV program in Malaysia called “Into Taqwa with Mizz Nina”.
Tan Sri Dr. Mohd Irwan Serigar Abdullah was appointed the Secretary General of Treasury, Ministry of Finance (MOF), since 24 August 2012 and holds an ex officio position on the Board of PIDM.
Tan Sri Dr. Irwan began his career in the public sector at the Economic Planning Unit (EPU) of the Prime Minister’s Department in 1984. During his tenure at EPU he served in various capacities in the areas of urban development, energy and privatisation.
He joined the MOF in October 2003 where he held various positions including in the Economic Division, and later as Section Head, Deputy Secretary and Secretary of the Economic Analysis and International Division (Macro Economy). He then served at the MOF as Deputy Secretary General (Policy) from December 2010 to August 2012, before his appointment as the Secretary General of Treasury.
Tan Sri Dr. Irwan also serves as a Board Member of notable organisations including the Malaysian Airline System Berhad (MAS), Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS), Federal Land Development Authority (FELDA), MASS Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn. Bhd. (MRT Corp), Regional Corridor Development Authority (RECODA), Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM), Razak School of Government (RSOG), Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) and the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). He is also the Chairman of Retirement Fund Incorporated, Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia, Prokhas Sdn. Bhd. and Cyberview Sdn. Bhd.
He holds a PhD in Economics from IIUM and a Masters of Science in Energy Management and Policy from the University of Pennsylvania, USA. He also received his Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree in Demography from the University of Malaya.

Umar Munshi is a co-founder of Club Ethis, the world’s first Ethical & Shari’ah-Compliant Real Estate Crowdfunding Platform. He is also a partner at Amanah Asset Management, a firm specialising in Islamic Finance Consultancy and Events. Mr Munshi has been immersed in Islamic Finance for three years, focused on creating market awareness and reaching out to the larger community. Mr Munshi has been an entrepreneur since the age of 18, and has developed startups in F&B, Healthcare, Technology and Education in Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia and Saudi Arabia.
At the age of 23, he was recognised as a nominee for the Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award by the Singapore Malay Chamber of Commerce. Mr Munshi first set base in Indonesia in 2005 in Bali, as the majority shareholder of a Health-tech startup selling Nanotech Therapy products marketed to both Retail and to local businesses. He lived and continued business in Indonesia till 2012, when supply problems led him to relocate back to Singapore. PT Ethis is now developing a resort in Bali and residential housing in Greater Jakarta. His 10 years of experience in Indonesia saw him being featured on Indonesian TV Program CEO Mindset, and his personal network includes business and community leaders as well as political elite. He is also the founder of the Singapore chapter of Tangan Di Atas (Loosely translated as the Giving Hand), an Indonesia-based network of 30,000 entrepreneurs.
